Indoor/Outdoor Turret Camera (ADC-VC836) Installation Guide
The Alarm.com ADC-VC836 Turret Camera is designed for reliable indoor and outdoor HD video monitoring. Use this guide to prepare, connect, enroll, and mount the camera, and to troubleshoot common setup issues.
Pre-Setup Checklist
- ADC-VC836 camera (included)
- AC power adapter (required for non-PoE connections)
- Broadband Internet (Cable, DSL, or Fiber Optic) with router
- Computer or mobile device with Internet access
- Ethernet/Cat5 cable
- Alarm.com account login and password

Add the Camera to an Alarm.com Account
Complete these steps before installing the camera in its final location.
- Connect the camera to the router using an Ethernet cable.
- If Ethernet does not supply power, connect the camera to an AC power adapter (sold separately) and plug it into a non-switched outlet.
- Wait a few minutes for the camera to connect to the Internet.
- Add the device to the account using one of the following:
- MobileTech app
- Customer app Video Installation Wizard
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete enrollment.
- Power down the camera and install it in its permanent location using the included hardware. For compatible mounting accessories, see mounting brackets for the ADC-VC836.
Mounting Notes
- Ensure the mounting surface is stable and weather-appropriate.
- Route cabling to avoid pinching or strain when the turret is adjusted.
- Confirm final field-of-view and focus after tightening all fasteners.
Troubleshooting
If the camera does not appear online or fails to enroll, try the following:
- Power cycle the camera and networking equipment, then retry enrollment.
- Verify PoE power from the switch/injector or confirm the AC adapter is plugged into a non-switched outlet.
- Check that Ethernet connectors are fully seated at both ends.
Factory Reset (if issues persist)
- Disconnect the camera from the power supply.
- Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the water-tight door (see diagram) to access the Reset button.
- Press and hold the Reset button while reconnecting power.
- Continue holding the button for 10 seconds, then release. Allow the camera a couple of minutes to fully reboot.
