Alarm.com Smarter Business Temperature Monitoring (SBTM) provides affordable, 24x7 monitoring and real-time equipment alerts to support the temperature control needs of restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other business properties. Fully integrated with the Alarm.com ecosystem, our advanced temperature monitoring solution saves business owners time and money, allowing them to quickly address problems before they create unsafe conditions or require costly repairs.

Important: This panel does not support central station temperature forwarding alongside SBTM. PG9905 temperature sensors used with SBTM do not forward temperature alerts to a central station. The sensor group required for SBTM by this panel does not support it.

Additional hardware DSC Wireless PowerG Temperature Sensors (PG9905)

Enroll PowerG Temperature Sensors (PG9905)

DSC Wireless PowerG Temperature Sensors (PG9905) can be enrolled using the panel, Partner Portal, or MobileTech app.

To enroll the PowerG Temperature Sensor using the panel:

Note: For the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, it is recommended to use the panel's auto-learn feature.

  1. Put the panel into add mode.
    1. Tap Settings.
    2. Tap Advanced Settings.
    3.  Enter the installer code.
    4. Tap Installation.
    5. Tap Devices.
    6. Tap Security Sensors.
    7. Tap Auto Learn Sensor.
  2. Once on the Auto Learn page, trigger the sensor.
    • To put a PG9905 sensor into pairing mode, open up the sensor (screwdriver required) and hold the button next to the spring for two seconds. The LED should flash red. The panel should then discover the sensor and automatically add it.
  3. Complete the installation to add the new sensor.

To enroll the PowerG Temperature Sensor using the Partner Portal:
  1. Log into the Partner Portal.
  2. Find the customer account.
  3. Click Equipment
  4. Click Sensors.
  5. In Sensor Management, click Add A Sensor.
  6. Using the RF Type dropdown menu, select PowerG.
Important: This is the last step on the page, but it should be performed first. This guide goes from the bottom up.
  7. In Serial Number, enter the serial number found on the sensor, and on its box.
Important: The serial number always starts with 250. Do not include the hyphen when entering the number (e.g., 2505655).
  8. In Sensor Name, enter the desired name for the sensor (e.g., Freezer Sensor 1).
  9. Using the Partition dropdown menu, select the partition number to assign the sensor to.
    • Only change this if the panel has multiple partitions configured and the sensor should be in a different partition other than 1.
  10. Using the Group dropdown menu, select 51
  11. Using the Sensor Type dropdown menu, select Temperature
  12. In Sensor ID, enter an ID number not already in-use by any existing sensor on the account to assign to the PowerG sensor.
  13. Click Add Sensor

To enroll the PowerG Temperature Sensor using the MobileTech app:
  1. Log into the MobileTech app.

  1. Trigger a tamper on each sensor.
Important: This step is not required if the sensor was just opened for Auto Learn mode using the panel.

    • To trigger a tamper on a sensor:
      1. Unscrew and open the sensor.
      2. Insert the battery, if it has not already been done.
      3. Press in the spring, which gets pressed when the sensor casing is closed. This triggers the tamper.
      4. Close the sensor. As the sensor is closed, it should blink green 3 times in a row, indicating a successful installation.
  2. Navigate to the sensor equipment page on the Partner Portal or MobileTech app. The enrolled sensors are listed. To request an update, click Request Updated Equipment List, wait one minute, and then refresh the page. For more information about requesting an updated list, see Request an updated sensor list and system status.
  3. To view the sensors on the Customer Website or app, log into the Alarm.com account with the new sensors. On the home page, a Temperature Monitoring card should display with a row for each newly added sensor. If sensors display N/A as their temperature, click the refresh button on the top-right of the card. Refresh the page, if needed.

Troubleshooting

Sensor does not display on Alarm.com

If the sensor is not showing up on the Partner Portal, MobileTech app, Customer Website or app, then the sensor was not successfully enrolled onto the panel.

  1. Verify the sensor is programmed into sensor group 51 (non-reporting).
  2. Reset the sensor by removing and re-inserting the battery.
  3. Try enrolling the sensor again. A different method of enrollment may want to be tried.

Sensor's temperature displays as N/A

If the sensor shows up as connected, but is showing its temperature as N/A:

  1. Trigger a tamper on the sensor. To tamper the sensor, open the sensor so that its internal spring is fully expanded, then close the sensor. The sensor should flash green 3 times to show that it is successfully connected.
    • If the sensors do not flash green 3 times, reset the sensor, and re-enroll it onto the panel.
  2. Once the sensor is tampered, click Request Updated Equipment List on the Partner Portal or MobileTech equipment page.
