Rain Bird Wi-Fi Controller – Setup, Compatibility & Alarm.com Integration

Rain Bird Wi-Fi Controller – Setup & Alarm.com Integration

Getting Started

Install your Rain Bird controller, connect it to Wi-Fi, and configure zones and programs in the Rain Bird app before linking it with Alarm.com. For more details, see the Rain Bird Wi-Fi Controller Installation Guide.

Hardware Compatibility

Alarm.com supports the following Rain Bird controllers:

  • ESP-TM2 with LNK Wi-Fi Module – Compatible models feature an all-green control plate.
  • ESP-Me or ESP-ME3 (post-Nov 2016) – Compatible units display the LNK Ready icon.

Adding Rain Bird to Alarm.com

  1. Locate and record the serial number on the back of the LNK Wi-Fi Module.
  2. Open the Rain Bird app, select your controller, and tap Settings → Connected Home.
  3. Toggle Alarm.com on.
  4. In the Partner Portal or MobileTech app, navigate to Equipment → Rain Bird → Add Controller and enter the serial number.

Control & Monitoring

View and manage irrigation directly from the Alarm.com mobile app. The Irrigation Card shows current watering activity, last use, and modes such as Rain Delay or Seasonal Adjust.

  • Start or stop watering individual zones.
  • Activate Rain Delay when needed.
  • View zone history for performance insight.

Usage Tips

  • Rename zones in the Rain Bird app for clarity.
  • Tap Stop Watering before changing active zones.
  • To water specific areas manually, use Water All Zones and deselect unwanted zones.

Troubleshooting

  • If the Rain Bird tab or Irrigation card is missing, confirm the account includes the Irrigation Service Package.
  • If the controller loads but zones do not, ensure it’s powered on and the Rain Bird app is on the home screen.
  • If the controller password is changed, toggle the Alarm.com connection off and back on in the Rain Bird app’s Connected Home section.

Note: After making configuration or network changes, wait a few minutes before requesting an equipment list update via the Partner Portal or MobileTech.
