Manually connect a SkyBell Doorbell Camera to Wi-Fi

While it is uncommon, there are occasions where manually connecting a SkyBell Doorbell Camera (ADC-VDB101/102/105/106) to the customer's Wi-Fi network is necessary.

To manually connect an SkyBell Doorbell Camera to Wi-Fi:

  1. Follow the steps to install the doorbell camera until it prompts you to select the customer network. For more information about the SkyBell Doorbell Camera installation steps, see SkyBell Doorbell Camera (ADC-VDB101/102/105/106/105x/106x) - Installation Guide.
  2. Tap the desired Wi-Fi network (SSID).

    Note: The customer/installer does not need to tap My Network is not Listed.
     
  3. Tap Manual.

  4. In Password, carefully enter the Wi-Fi password.
  5. Encryption Type automatically populates.
  6. In the IP Address field, enter the SkyBell Doorbell Camera's IP address.
  7. In the Subnet Mask field, enter the router's subnet mask.
  8. In the Gateway field, enter the router's IP address.
  9. In the DNS field, enter the router's primary DNS.
  10. In the DNS 2 field, enter the router's secondary DNS.
  11. Tap Next.

Finding network information

The user might not know the required networking information to complete the manual Wi-Fi connection. Finding this information on the customer's behalf varies between devices.

To find networking information using an Android phone:
  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notification tray.

  2. Press and hold  until the Wi-Fi Settings page appears.

  3. Press and hold the name of the desired wireless network until the secondary menu opens.
  4. Tap Manage network settings.
  5. Tap Show advanced options.
  6. Using the IP settings dropdown menu, select Static.

  7. Use the information from the phone while enrolling the SkyBell Doorbell Camera onto this network:
     
    Manual Wi-Fi configuration field Information from the phone
    Password Use the password of the network you are trying to connect to.
    IP Address

    This will be the IP address of the SkyBell Doorbell Camera. Use the first three numbers in Gateway, then change the last number to 250 (e.g., 192.168.1.250).

    If this does not work then 250 may be occupied, try 249, 248, etc..

    Subnet Mask Not listed on android. The most common Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0.
    Gateway Use the number listed in the Gateway field.
    DNS 1 Use the number listed in the DNS 1 field.
    DNS 2 Use the number listed in the DNS 2 field.
To find networking information using an iOS phone: 
  1. From the home screen, tap Settings.

  2. Tap Wi-Fi.

  3. When connected to the customer's network, tap Info.

  4. Use the information from the phone while enrolling the SkyBell Doorbell Camera onto this network:
     
    Manual Wi-Fi configuration field Information from the phone
    Password Use the password of the network you are trying to connect to.
    IP Address

    This will be the IP address of the SkyBell Doorbell Camera. Use the first three numbers in Gateway, then change the last number to 250 (e.g., 192.168.1.250).

    If this does not work then 250 may be occupied, try 249, 248, etc..

    Subnet Mask Use the number listed in the Subnet Mask field.
    Gateway Use the number listed in the Router field.
    DNS 1 Not listed on iPhone. Use 8.8.8.8 (Google’s primary DNS/has a high success rate).
    DNS 2 Not listed on iPhone. Use 8.8.4.4 (Google’s secondary DNS/has a high success rate).
To find networking information using a Windows PC: 
  1. Click Search Windows (on Windows 10) to begin searching the computer for files.

    Note: Older versions of Windows require clicking Start first, then a search bar will appear on the screen.

  2. In the Search Windows field, enter cmd.

  3. Click the Command Prompt application icon that appears.

  4. A black box with text will appear on the screen. In the path field, enter ipconfig.
  5. Press [Enter]. A collection of network information will appear on the screen.

  6. Use the information from the computer while enrolling the SkyBell Doorbell Camera onto this network:
     
    Manual Wi-Fi configuration field Information from the PC
    Password Use the password of the network you are trying to connect to.
    IP Address

    This will be the IP address of the SkyBell Doorbell Camera. Use the first three numbers in Gateway, then change the last number to 250 (e.g., 192.168.1.250).

    If this does not work then 250 may be occupied, try 249, 248, etc..
