How to Install and Manage Aeotec ZW120 & Jasco ZW3605 Z-Wave Contact Sensors

Alarm.com supports both the Aeotec ZW120 and Jasco ZW3605 Z-Wave contact sensors. These devices are designed for non-security Z-Wave controllers (such as the Alarm.com Hub) and allow for automated control of your smart home system.

Installation

Step 1: Install the Sensor

  • Install the door/window sensor following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Mount indoors and away from moisture sources.
  • Place within 90 feet of another Z-Wave repeater or the Hub.
  • Align sensor and magnet dots within 1 cm of each other for proper function.
  • Use screws when possible; mounting tape may require reinforced adhesive.

Step 2: Enroll Sensor to the Network

  1. Remove the plastic battery tab on the sensor to power it.
  2. Put the Hub in enrollment mode by pressing the enrollment button once — the light flashes green slowly and the Hub beeps once.
  3. Press the Z-Wave button on the sensor once. If successful, the Hub beeps and the sensor’s LED turns solid for several seconds.

Note: If the sensor malfunctions after installation, perform a Z-Wave Network Rediscovery and press the Z-Wave button again.

Configuring Rules & Alerts

  1. Log into the Customer Website.
  2. Navigate to AutomationSensor Left Open Energy SaverConfigure.
  3. Select which sensors and thermostats to apply the rule to.
  4. Set alert duration and energy-saving actions.
  5. Add recipients for notifications and save the configuration.

Advanced Functions

Unenroll Sensor from the Network

  1. Put the Hub in unenrollment mode by holding the enrollment button until the light flashes orange and the Hub beeps twice.
  2. Press the Z-Wave button on the sensor. Successful unenrollment is indicated by a beep and LED color change.

Battery Replacement

  1. Remove the sensor from its mounting plate.
  2. Replace both AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Reattach the sensor until it clicks firmly into place.

Factory Reset

  • Aeotec ZW120: Hold the button for 20 seconds until the LED turns solid for 2 seconds.
  • Jasco ZW3605: Press the button 10 times within 6 seconds. The LED will flash rapidly when complete.
