Battery Requirements

The CT32 requires four AA alkaline batteries.

Battery Safety & Replacement Best Practices

  • Install new batteries as soon as Low Batt flashes.
  • Change batteries at least once per year—even if “Low Batt” hasn’t displayed.
  • If leaving home for extended periods, replace batteries beforehand to prevent thermostat failure.
  • Always use fresh alkaline batteries; avoid reusables.
  • Battery failure may lead to HVAC control loss, resulting in overheating or freezing.

Replacing the Batteries

  1. Open the bottom compartment of the thermostat.
  2. Insert four AA batteries, negative end first, following markings.
  3. Press the RESET button (beneath the top cover) to confirm HVAC settings.
  4. Reinstall the bottom cover.
  5. Restore power at the breaker. The thermostat will power on in OFF mode.
