LiftMaster MyQ Internet Gateway (828LM) Installation & Registration Guide
Required Items for Installation
- MyQ Internet Gateway (828LM)
- Ethernet cable and router
- LiftMaster or Chamberlain MyQ-enabled garage door opener
- Smartphone, tablet, or laptop with internet access
Garage Door Compatibility: Look for the MyQ or AssureLink logo on the opener (e.g., Garage Door with 880LM Control Panel).
Connect LiftMaster Internet Gateway
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the router and the Internet Gateway.
- Plug in the power supply to the Internet Gateway.
- When the green LED turns solid, the gateway is connected to the internet.
- If the green LED does not light solid, check the power, router, and connections.
- Write down the serial number on the gateway for registration.
Internet Gateway LED Patterns
LED Color | Description |
---|---|
Green (blinking) | The Gateway has an IP address but no internet connection. |
Green (solid) | The Gateway has an active internet connection (blinks occasionally for data traffic). |
Blue (blinking) | The Gateway is communicating with a MyQ device. |
Yellow (solid) | The Gateway is in learn mode, waiting to add a MyQ device (3-minute timeout). |
All LEDs blink 4 times | Indicates correct power connection and reset. |
Register Internet Gateway
Note: The Internet Gateway cannot be registered with Alarm.com if already registered with MyQ/LiftMaster. Remove it from the MyQ account first.
Register Using the Customer Website
- Verify the LiftMaster Integration add-on is included in the service package.
- Log into the Alarm.com Customer Website
- Click Settings → Manage Devices → Add Device.
- Select Garage Door → MyQ Internet Gateway.
- Click Register Gateway and enter the gateway serial number.
- Click Add New Device to put the gateway into Learn Mode (yellow LED lights up).
- Follow the wizard to add the opener. The LED turns blue once learned in.
- Return to the Garage page and click Check for New Devices.
Troubleshooting
- If the yellow command LED does not turn on, reverse the wires on the R and W terminals of the control panel.
- If yellow/red LEDs blink slowly, the control panel is not compatible.
- If yellow/red LEDs blink quickly, the control panel is charging (may take up to 5 minutes).
- Learn Mode lasts 3 minutes. During this time, devices linked to the gateway will be inoperable.
