LiftMaster MyQ Smart Garage Hub Troubleshooting

Models: 821LM, 821LMB, 821LMC-S, MyQ-G0301

LED Indicators (Hub)

LED color/state Status
Blue (blinking) Wi-Fi needs setup / Wi-Fi setup active
Blue (solid) Programming mode
Green (blinking) Communicating with router
Green (solid) Wi-Fi connected (internet OK)
Yellow (solid) Learn / programming active

Door Sensor Won’t Program to the Wi-Fi Hub

  1. Press the sensor Test button.
    • Yellow blinks + hub beeps once/twice = linked (slot 1/2).
    • No blink → replace CR2450 battery. If still no blink, replace sensor.
    • Blinks but won’t enroll → clear the target hub slot: press/hold 1 or 2 on the hub until yellow LED turns off, then re-add.
  2. Sensor types: G821LMB-2SENSOR / 821LMC-SENSOR (red LED, RF) work with 821LMB/821LMC-S natively and 821LM/MyQ-G0301 on current firmware. 821LM-SENSOR (yellow LED, Bluetooth) pairs only to 821LM or MyQ-G0301.

Hub Not Connecting to Internet

  • Verify 2.4 GHz signal in garage (phone shows ≥2 bars is ideal).
  • Join the hub near the router, then relocate; confirm green solid.
  • If unstable, add a Wi-Fi range extender near the garage.

“Add non-MyQ Garage Door” Option Missing

The hub has data in both non-MyQ slots. Fix:

  1. Preferred: delete the hub from the account, power-cycle, re-register by serial.
  2. Or: clear slots manually — press/hold 1 until yellow off; repeat for 2, then power-cycle.

Android Won’t Connect During Setup

  • Disable auto-switch features (Smart Network Switch / Adaptive Wi-Fi).
  • Wi-Fi Advanced: uncheck “Check for internet service”.
  • Reconnect to the hub’s temporary network and retry.

iOS Says Hub Already Paired (Bluetooth)

  1. With hub blue light flashing, open Settings → Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the “i” next to MyQ-XYZForget This Device.
  3. Re-pair and share Wi-Fi credentials again.

Hub Not Registering

Each hub can be linked to one account. If it’s on a LiftMaster/MyQ account, remove it there first, then register on Alarm.com.

Remotes Disconnected During Enrollment

Holding the opener’s Learn too long wipes all remotes. Re-enroll each remote; next time, press Learn briefly.

821LM Doesn’t Operate the Opener

  1. Confirm opener compatibility and that the door moved during enrollment.
  2. If tilt falsely triggered, delete and re-add; choose Unknown manufacturer if needed.
  3. Manual program (821LM only):
    1. Program sensor: Press hub 1 or 2 (yellow solid) → press sensor Test until hub beeps (1=slot1, 2=slot2).
    2. Program opener: Press hub Settings (blue solid) → hold until green/yellow alternate → press again (yellow solid). Press 1 or 2 per slot mapping, then Settings (blink) → press opener Learn → press 1/2 until click → press again to activate → hold Settings to exit (blue blink or green solid).
821LMB cannot be manually programmed via these steps.

Two Openers: Both Doors Move

Both motors learned the same hub channel.

  1. Erase the motor’s remote memory (then re-add remotes/codes).
  2. On 821LM, clear slot 1 (hold 1 ~10s) and slot 2 (hold 2 ~10s).
  3. Power off the motor you’re not enrolling; enroll the powered one.
  4. Swap power and enroll the second; then power both and test.

Door Sensor Shows “Unknown” or “Malfunction”

  1. Open/close via wall control to force a status update.
  2. Refresh the equipment list in your account.
  3. Ensure hub is within ~30 ft open air of the sensor.
  4. Press Test on sensor:
    • No yellow blink → replace CR2450; if still none, replace sensor.
    • Yellow blinks but hub doesn’t beep → remove door from account, clear that hub slot, re-add the door.

Door Sensor Low Battery

Replace with a new CR2450 lithium coin cell, then cycle the door once to refresh status.
