Notifications | Low battery shown on panel and via platform (if subscribed) |
Replacement | Slide sensor front upward off backplate, replace cells, dispose per local regulations |
LED Reference, Resets & Test Mode
Quick Resets
- Power cycle: remove/reinsert batteries, or quick press the reset with a paperclip (LED off ≥10s; panel not in Add mode).
- Network reset: hold reset for ~10s until rapid red flash; after memory check you should see blinking yellow (panel association cleared). If still within range of an enrolled panel, delete from that system first.
PIR Activation & 3-Minute Test Mode
- Settings → Advanced Settings → enter installer code
- System Tests → Image Sensor Config → View (sensor)
- Sensor Tests → Start PIR Test (may take up to 30s to engage)
By default the LED is off during normal motion trips; in test mode it illuminates for ~3s on motion (max every ~3 minutes while disarmed).
Tamper & Troubles
- Tamper: Accelerometer triggers tamper when orientation changes; clears 5 minutes after upright/no movement, or on reset.
- Trouble display: Malfunction, tamper, and low battery show on the panel and in the platform (notifications if subscribed).
Service Package Options
- Images – Alarms: Uploads from panel alarm events.
- Images – Limited: Alarms + first motion after disarm from Away.
- Images – Plus: Alarms + disarm + non-alarm (Peek-In, Daily View), within monthly quota.
Installation — Prepare Panel
- Create customer account and select a package that includes Images.
- Verify the Image Sensor daughtercard is installed (run Daughter Card Test).
- Power panel and run a communication test to confirm reporting.
Enroll Image Sensor (Local on IQ Panel 2)
- Remove batteries from the sensor.
- Settings → Advanced Settings → installer code → Installation → Devices → Security Sensors → Auto Learn Sensor.
- Insert batteries; LED sequence: blinking red → solid red → blinking yellow (learn mode).
- Accept the on-screen prompt to add the device.
- Configure:
- Sensor Type: Image Sensors
- Sensor Name: Unique name (required)
- Chime: None
- Group: 17 (IS Away Instant Motion) by default
- Voice: Off (as desired)
- Tap Add New; exit Auto-Learn. LED alternates green/yellow while syncing; solid green indicates account add is complete.
- Keep panel/sensor powered to complete initialization (images upload only after init completes).
- Groups available: 15, 17, 20, 25, 35 (change via Edit Sensors if needed).
Mounting & Placement
Intended Operation | Height | Angle | Bracket | Coverage |
---|---|---|---|---|
Pet Immunity | 6 ft | 6° (shallow) | Teeth Up | ~30–35 ft |
Larger Rooms | 8 ft | 6° (shallow) | Teeth Up | ~30–35 ft |
Smaller Rooms | 8 ft | 18° (deep) | Teeth Down | ~15–20 ft |
Do’s & Don’ts
- Center the doorway/target in frame; aim for cross-motion, not straight-at.
- Install within ~100 ft of panel when practical (site conditions vary).
- Leave ≥3″ clearance above sensor for future battery swaps.
- Verify RF signal strength (>40% recommended; ≥30% required).
- Don’t face toward windows/strong light or reflective surfaces.
- Don’t mount near metallic objects/electronics that can interfere with RF.
- Don’t include walls/ceilings tight in frame for IR (avoid washout).
- Indoor use only; avoid shelves/vibration-prone surfaces.
Verify & Test
- Confirm Rules Confirmed status in equipment list; resend if needed.
- Check RF signal strength (target >40%; must be ≥30%).
- Run a walk test and request test images (PIR Test and Peek-In).
- Night testing: darken room to check IR performance and avoid glare.
- Note: Automatic alarm uploads are disabled for 4 hours after any new sensor is added; request manual test images during this period.
Deleting an Image Sensor
- Delete the sensor from the account (panel, Partner Portal, or MobileTech).
- Perform a network reset on the device (only after deletion or if out of range of its old network).
Troubleshooting
General
- Verify panel module signal strength and Image Sensor RF strength.
- Confirm correct service package (Images plan tier).
Enrollment Issues
- Ensure sensor powers up (LED activity within ~10s of battery insert).
- Clear prior network: delete from old system, then 10s network reset.
Non-Responsive
- Check RF levels; move closer to panel if low; verify daughtercard antenna routing.
- Install fresh lithium AA cells.
No Images Captured
- Verify initialization completed and rules are confirmed; resend rules if needed.
- Remember 4-hour auto-upload hold after new device add; request manual test images.
False Motion
- Review environment (HVAC, sunlight, mirrors, moving heat sources).
- Adjust sensor angle/aim; try Low sensitivity for pet immunity.
