Pre-installation checklist
- ADC-V522IR camera (included)
- AC Power adapter (included)
- Ethernet or Wireless (2.4 or 5 GHz) connection to broadband (Cable, DSL, or Fiber Optic) Internet
- A computer, tablet or smartphone with Wi-Fi is required if the router does not have the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) feature
- Login and password for the Alarm.com account to add the camera to
For a detailed list of this video device's features, see Indoor Fixed w/IR (ADC-V522IR) - Data Sheet.
If the camera is already connected to the customer's account but needs to be reconnected to a wireless network, see Reconnect a camera to a Wi-Fi network if the router, network equipment, or wireless settings change.
Add the camera to an Alarm.com account
To add a camera, connect the camera to the customer's wireless network and then enroll the camera to the Alarm.com account. There are three local options for connecting the ADC-V522IR to the network:
- Ethernet Mode
- Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) Mode
- Access Point (AP) Mode
Once the ADC-V522IR is added to the account, it can be permanently installed using either a wireless broadband connection or wired Ethernet connection.
Important: When the camera is powered up, always allow at least two minutes before pressing any camera buttons. The first time a new video camera is powered up, it automatically goes into AP mode (flashing white) after two minutes.
AP mode
To ensure sufficient Wi-Fi signal, complete these steps with the camera near its final location but prior to mounting.
- Connect the camera’s AC power adapter and plug it into a non-switched outlet. Allow at least two minutes before pressing any camera buttons. If the standard power supply is too short to reach an outlet, see How do I extend the power supply of a camera?.
- Hold down the WPS button and release when the LED begins to flash white (about 6 seconds).
Note: The WPS button is the only button on the back of the camera and may also be labeled Reset.
- On an Internet-enabled device, connect to the wireless network ALARM (XX:XX:XX) where XX:XX:XX is the last six digits of the ADC-V522IR’s MAC address. This is located behind the mount on the back of the ADC-V522IR. To expose the camera's MAC address, rotate the face.
- On the same device, open a web browser and enter http://522irinstall or 192.168.1.1 in the URL field.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to add the ADC-V522IR to the wireless network.
- Select a language for the instructions.
- Click Scan for Wi-Fi Networks.
- Click to select the customer's Wi-Fi network.
- In the Security Key, enter the password of the customer's Wi-Fi network. This is case-sensitive.
- Click Save.
- Click OK in the pop-up window that appears asking to refer to the website.
- If this does not work, verify that the device is still connected to the ALARM(XX:XX:XX) network.
- Select a language for the instructions.
- When the LED is solid green, the wireless connection is complete.
- If the LED is not solid green after a few minutes, retry AP mode or try using a different mode (i.e., Ethernet or WPS mode). For more information about AP mode, see AP mode Installation guide.
- Add the device to the account by selecting the account in the MobileTech app, by using the Customer app Video Installation Wizard, or by using a web browser and entering the following web address: www.alarm.com/addcamera (you will need the customer’s user name and password if using the Customer Website or app).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add and set up the video device. For more information about adding a camera to an account, see Enroll the video device to the customer account.
- Once the camera is enrolled on the account, power down the camera and install it in its final location using the included hardware.

Troubleshooting
- If issues occur when connecting the camera to the account, power cycle the camera and then try to add the camera again. Unplug the power jack from the camera for about one minute, and then plug it back in to restore power.
- If issues persist, reset the camera to factory defaults by using the WPS button located on the back of the camera. Press and hold the WPS button for about 15 seconds until the LED is flashing green and red, then release the button. The camera reboots with factory defaults. If the camera was previously installed to an Alarm.com account, it needs to be deleted before it can be installed again.
