Requirements

The following are required to enroll Image Sensors to a 2GIG GC3 panel:

  1. A customer account has been created on Alarm.com with a service package that includes an Images add-on.
  2. The Alarm.com module and XCVR3 transceiver are installed properly in the panel. For more information about installing the XCVR3, see 2GIG GC3 Image Sensor Transceiver (2GIG-XCVR3-GC3) - Installation Guide.
  3. A communication test has been performed successfully.

Note: Image Sensors must be enrolled locally on a 2GIG GC3. Image Sensors cannot be enrolled remotely to a 2GIG GC3 using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app.

Image Sensor enrollment

Important: For smoothest installation, enroll one Image Sensor at a time. Insert batteries only after initiating learn mode at the panel.

  1. Verify XCVR3 installation.
    • Ensure the XCVR3 is connected properly to the control panel terminal blocks. For more information on how to install the XCVR3, please reference the XCVR3 installation instructions included with the XCVR3. The following is the wire-to-terminal guide for quick reference:
      • Red – Smoke+
      • Black – Common (GND)
      • Green – RX
      • White – TX
  2. Using the panel, tap System Settings.
  3. Enter the installer code.
  4. Tap Installer Toolbox.
  5. Tap System Configuration.
  6. Tap Wireless Zones.
  7. Tap to select an unused zone.
  8. For the Sensor type, tap to enter a sensor type.
    • Recommended sensor types are:
      • 04- Interior Follower
      • 10- Interior w/ Delay
      • 23- No Response Type
  9. For Equipment type, tap to select (2) Motion.
  10. For Equipment code, tap to select 9999 Alarm.com Image Sensor.
  11. For Image Sensor ID, tap Learn to put the panel into learn mode.
  12. Insert the batteries into the Image Sensor.
    • For the Image Sensor Version 3 (i.e., 300-LP), the LED changes from blinking red to solid red to blinking yellow. This indicates the Image Sensor is in add mode.
    • For the Image Sensor Version 1 or 2 (i.e., 221-LP), use a paper clip to hold the sensor’s reset button until the LED flashes rapidly for at least 2 seconds. It  takes at least 10 seconds for this to occur. The reset button must be held for at least a full 10 seconds.
Note: A one second fast blink may occur during the reset attempt. This signals that the sensor is not enrolled in a network.

  13. Wait approximately 20 seconds for the Image Sensor to enroll in the panel. The screen on the panel displays Found Image Sensor [x]. Tap Accept on the panel.
    • For the Image Sensor Version 3, the LED on the Image Sensor turns solid yellow indicating that it has successfully found the panel.
    • For an Image Sensor Version 1 or 2, the LED on the sensor turns solid for about 5 seconds indicating that it has successfully found the panel.
  14. For Equipment age, tap to select New or Existing
  15. For Transmission delay, tap to select enabled or disabled
  16. For Voice descriptor, tap to edit the voice descriptor if desired.
  17. For Sensor reports, tap to select enabled or disabled. (Enabled is recommended)
  18. For Sensor supervised, tap to select enabled or disabled. (Enabled is recommended)
  19. For Sensor chime, tap to select enabled or disabled
  20. Continue to edit the next sensor, or tap Return to System Configuration and tap Save to save the changes and exit.
    • For Image Sensors Version 3, after exiting system configuration, the Image Sensor LED alternates between green and yellow while the customer’s device list is updated with Alarm.com. The LED turns solid green when the Image Sensor has been successfully added to the customer’s account.

Note: If the Image Sensor is moved (tampered) after the LED has turned solid green, the Image Sensor enters test mode for 3 minutes indicated by a red LED when motion is detected. The mounting portion of the installation may be continued with while the Image Sensor is in test mode. For more information about the Image Sensor Version 3 LEDs, see the Image Sensor LED Reference Chart.
  21. Perform a cell phone test to ensure that the updated equipment list is sent to Alarm.com. For more information see Send a communication test from a 2GIG GC3.

The sensor is now learned into the panel. After enrollment, be sure to keep the sensor and panel powered so the sensor can complete an initialization process with Alarm.com. This process takes several minutes. Images cannot be captured until initialization is complete.

To verify that the initialization process is complete using the panel:
  1. Go to the home screen.
  2. Tap System Settings.
  3. Enter the installer code.
  4. Tap Installer Toolbox.
  5. Tap System Configuration
  6. Tap Image Sensors
  7. Tap to select the Image Sensor to verify.
  8. Verify Rules is showing as Synced.

Steps after enrollment

  1. Mount the Image Sensor. For more information about mounting Image Sensors, see:
  2. Test the Image Sensor. For more information about performing an installer image test, see Take an installer test Image Sensor image
  3. For more information about installation or troubleshooting, see the specific Image Sensor's installation guide:
