How to Replace Batteries in the Alarm.com Smart Thermostat (ADC-T2000)
The Alarm.com Smart Thermostat (ADC-T2000) is designed to run on AC power but also uses four AA alkaline batteries as backup. Regular battery maintenance is important to prevent HVAC system issues and extend the life of your thermostat.
Important Battery Considerations
- If no batteries are inserted and the thermostat runs solely on AC power, it will display a LOW BATT warning.
- Always replace batteries promptly when low levels are indicated. Fully drained batteries can cause the HVAC system to remain stuck on or stuck off, risking overheating or freezing in the home.
- Replace batteries at least once a year to prevent damage or corrosion from leaking batteries.
- For unoccupied homes (e.g., vacation properties), replace batteries before leaving to reduce the risk of failure while away.
- Always use fresh, high-quality AA alkaline batteries for best performance.
Steps to Replace the Batteries
- Ensure the thermostat is powered off or in standby mode.
- Open the back panel of the thermostat.
- Insert four new AA alkaline batteries, following the polarity markings (+/–) inside the compartment.
- Close the back panel securely.
- Check the thermostat display to confirm it is functioning normally.
